Front Lit or Standard Lit Channel Letter Signs

Front lit channel letter signs are the most common and the standard style used.

The construction includes a stainless steel side return, a stainless steel backing, and an acrylic finish. The acrylic face can be translucent, white, or colored. LED lights are mounted on the backing and illuminate through the acrylic material on the front.

A unique feature of front lit channel letter signs is the ability to mount digitally printed vinyl on the acrylic finish for a unique color effect.

Reverse Lit or Reverse Channel Letter Signs

Reverse lit channel letter signs allow light to escape from the back of the sign, creating a glowing effect at the edges.
The surface of a reverse illuminated channel sign must be made of opaque stainless steel or galvanized sheeting so that the light inside does not escape. Contrary to the standard, the back of the sign will be made of clear acrylic, which allows the LED light to escape and thus create a halo effect around the letterforms.

Traditional open neon signs use carefully bent glass tubes filled with neon lights. Glass comes in three types: clear, coated, and painted. They are called “neon” because of the original discovery of the light-emitting gas, but to produce other colors, other types of gas must be used.
