Care should be taken to seal roof penetrations. The strength of the frame depends on its mounting surface. We recommend wood or steel backing plates attached by roof bolts. The installer will need to determine if the roof can support the sign installation. The customer is responsible for sealing the roof around the bracket to prevent leaks.

Selecting the correct size roof mounting bracket

On every type of sign mounted using roof mounting brackets, it is important to leave space under the sign so that snow, leaves, and water can get under the sign and not cause damage to the sign. This will require a minimum of 4″ to 8″ of space under the sign, above the roof. Our brackets are not designed for mounting signs larger than 16″ from the bottom of the sign to the roof.

Raceway Mounted Signs

The raceway-mounted signs bracket will attach to the top and bottom of the raceway. In most cases, this will be below the top of the letters or logo. For roof-mounted track signs, you will need a minimum of two brackets for signs less than 6 feet in length. We recommend adding one sign bracket for every 3 feet of raceway length.

Lit Shape Signs

Brackets will attach to the top and bottom of the Lit Shape. When Lit Shape signs are ordered with roof mount brackets, the sign will include the mounting points for the brackets when you receive them. For signs less than 6 feet wide, a minimum of two brackets is required for each lit-shaped sign. We recommend one additional sign bracket for every 3 feet of sign width.

Lighted Sign Cabinets

Brackets will be attached to the top and bottom of the cabinet. When Lit sign cabinets are ordered with roof mount brackets, the sign will include mounting points when you receive them. For signs, less than 6 feet in length, a minimum of two brackets are required for each lit cabinet sign. We recommend adding one sign bracket for every 3 feet of sign width.
